How possible matches are evaluated

The first comparison uses product or brand name. Supporting signals are lot or batch code, best-by or production date, UPC when listed, and state or distribution area. A result is only a possible match until the user confirms every relevant identifier in the official notice.

Known limitations

Not real time

The current prototype uses a dated research sample and is not yet an automated real-time alert service.

Incomplete fields

Agency records do not always include UPCs, retailers, consumer actions, or consistently formatted package codes.
